Access to Quality Education
This project aims to contribute to the improvement of Access to Quality Education in BenaTsemay Woreda. Specifically the project aims to increase school enrollment of students in the 12 targeted schools by 20%, to improve the class participation/active learning of students by 65 and to create student friendly school environment in 12 schools by 2020. The project is under implementation since May 2017 in 12 schools of the Woreda and will be active until April 2020 and it is financial supported by Pestalozzi Children’s Foundation. The project directly targeted more than 6000 students.
The major activities of the project include:
- Awareness rising of the community on education through door to door campaigns on education, conduct CCs, produce IEC/BCC materials
- Facilitating tutorial classes, providing sanitary items, promoting intercultural education, building the capacity of teachers through different trainings, strengthening extracurricular activities, strengthening cluster resource centers and provision of supplementary books
- Renovation of deteriorated schools, construction of new dry latrines, new class rooms, provision of roof water and provision of school furniture, black boards and solar panels.
The project is under implementation with the active collaboration/participation of SNNPRS Bureau of Finance and Economic Development, Bureau of Education, Bureau of Culture and Tourism and the school community.
