Financial institutions are the most important tools for economic-,business and investment activities. According to the National Bank of Ethiopia, at the end of 2008 E.C the region has728 financial institutions. And out these 351 are government and private  Banks while the remaining 37 Insurance Campanies and340 are microfinance according to their order.more over the leading banking company in the region is Commercial Bank of Ethiopia /CBE/ with a total number of   290 . The distribution of financial institutions at zonal level shows that Sidama And Guraghe zones have the highest while the lowest was found in  Segen. Dawuro and South omo zones.
