International day of the girl was celebrated in Addis Ababa, Hyatt Regency hotel in October 11, 2021 with the international theme of Digital Generation. Our Generation.’and with local message of የታዳጊ ሴቶች ብቃት እና ሁለንተናዊ ደህንነት ማረጋገጥ. The celebration was organized by Malala Fund Education Champion Network and COVID-19 Grantees: ESD, HiwotEthiopia, WE-Action, AWA, Center of Concern (CoC), Center of Justice, YWCA, FEWA, NEWA, Sinqee Women Development Association in Collaboration with Ministry of Women, Children, and Youth. Government officials from various sectors such as of Education, Justice and Women, Children, and Youth affairs at Federal and Regional State level, Malala Fund Education Champion Network And COVID-19 Grantees representatives, Girls from different area of Ethiopia and other special Guests like Madam Letty from UN Women Ethiopia were part of the event.

During the event a research on the findings of COVID-19 and its impact on girl’s education were presented and followed by panel discussion. Girls from the Malala Girls Network have also given their testimony on barriers of girl’s education and thanked for the issues resolved after they have stated them on the previous event of Annual girl’s network.
