Foster Enabling and Supportive Environment for Girls

Education is one of the primary vehicles to open future opportunities for the Girls. CoC workswith schools and parents to raise awareness on the importance of education in general andeducation for girls in particular. Girls face several challenges in attending safe schools withquality education, including: Too often families favor boys when investing in education. Povertycompounds factors that keep girls out of schools, such as early pregnancy, child labor, housework, and cost & distance to school; Girls face harmful social norms. Child marriage rates in thecountry are one of the highest in the world, impeding girls’ chances of completing school; someschools do not meet the needs of girls in terms of safety, available WASH facilities, and qualityof education; Gender-based violence robs girls of education.Schools have the opportunity to be a safe heaven and place to learn about rights against abuse and find help.

The goal of this new project is to contribute towards creating enabling and supportive environment for girls to attendand complete their secondary education so that they are able to pave for the betterment of theirfutures. This will be achieved through facilitating dialogue and building the capacity of students,teachers, schools and the community. Moreover, concerned institutions will be involved at alllevels necessary to assure participation, coordination and sustainability. The goal of the project is to contribute towards creating an enabling andsupportive environment for girls to attend and complete their secondary education so thatthey are able to pave for the betterment of their future that contribute towards keepinggirls on education.
